Maltazar routes
See time, distance, transport and conditions before you start. Let the island tell the rest.
The best first Maltazar day: start in Birgu, cross Grand Harbour and enter Valletta through Barrakka. The route has a quick outdoor mode and a full mode for the cathedral, forts and war rooms.
A dense heritage day: prehistoric temples, Hypogeum in booking mode, Blue Grotto and Marsaxlokk. Includes a no-booking mode so the user is not blocked by Hypogeum tickets.
A high-variability day: Mosta, northern bays, Red Tower, filmic Anchor Bay and Comino. Includes a land-only fallback for wind or boat disruption, plus the new Gozo Highspeed option from Sliema/Buġibba to Mġarr for travellers without a car.
A full Gozo car loop: Tal-Mixta, Ġgantija, salt pans, the two wied valleys, Dwejra, Xlendi, Sanap and the Citadel. This route needs an early start.
A car-free first look at Valletta. See the harbour, fortifications and key city frames without pretending the whole capital fits into an hour.
A family half-day with a tower, a beach and filmic Anchor Bay. There is room for swimming, a short walk and a break instead of cramming in more stops.
A route for people who want more than film frames: see the scale of the sets, from Grand Harbour forts to Popeye Village in the north.
A loop for returning Gozo visitors: Mġarr ix-Xini, Ras il-Wardija, Ta' Cenc and the salt pans show the island beyond the standard Dwejra–Citadel day.
A walking loop across Comino that leaves the main crowd behind for Santa Marija, the battery, caves and the island high point. Boat timing and weather are part of the plan.
